The holding of Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW) in Decentraland is a huge turning point in the virtual world, but what is it all about, and what other industries might follow in the footsteps of the fashion world and join the metaverse?
All About Metaverse Fashion Week
This is the second time that MVFW is to be held in Decentraland, and it’s scheduled for March 28 to 31. The setting will be the same as last year, with the site’s Luxury District the place to be. Major fashion brands like DKNY, Tommy Hilfiger, and Dolce & Gabbana are due to take part again, while big names like Adidas and Coach will be making their first appearance at this event.
Several companies are working together to bring this show to life, with digital fashion experts UNXD and the metaverse platform team at Spatial heavily involved in setting things up. OVER are helping, adding their knowledge of augmented reality to the mixture. The theme of the event is to be Future Heritage, with a special focus on the way that some of the world’s fashion firms are starting to make their first moves into the metaverse.
What Other Industries Will Be Coming Soon?
With the Web3 revolution well underway, the big question is what other industries will be following the fashion world and entering the metaverse before long. We should definitely be looking for the entertainment industry to lead the way. Several major music artists such as Ozzy Osbourne and Travis Scott have already played in the metaverse, and we can expect this to become a much more common occurrence from now on.
The casino industry is another sector to keep an eye on, with many websites revealing how the biggest online casinos are adding new technology to traditional games. This one here looks at new casinos in Ontario including PartyCasino and Jackpot City. Some accept cryptocurrency payments while most have immersive live casino games where the dealer is streamed onto the screen, with augmented reality used in some games to create interesting effects. Playing roulette, blackjack and other casino games in the metaverse could provide this sector with the next big leap forward.
The film-making industry has arguably been slower than some others in finding ways to enter the metaverse, but it seems reasonable to expect to be able to enter the Web3 environment and experience a movie like never before too long. In 2021, Break the Bars became the first movie to debut in the metaverse, and it’s something we can expect to see a lot more of in the future. Perhaps we’ll see movies set in the metaverse that we can also watch while in it, which might sound confusing at first but should be a natural progression.
E-commerce firms could also benefit enormously from entering the metaverse and selling their products directly. Products can be showcased in entertaining new ways, and potential customers can try them without any fuss. This will change how we think about marketing, so it’s no surprise to find that many companies are desperately trying their best to find out how they should adapt their marketing strategies to this new world.
Different Parts of Our Lives Going Online
The upcoming fashion show in Decentraland might turn out to be more than just a big fashion event. It could be a sign that more of us are now ready to embrace the metaverse for many different reasons and put more of our lives online.
