Mercedes recently unveiled a new art rear wing design that competed at the 2022 F1 Miami Grand Prix; its NFTs are also expected to be auctioned for charity
Mercedes NFT at the Miami Grand Prix
Miami Grand Prix is one of the F1’s’ newest events, and to say that Mercedes had big plans for this event would be an understatement. Mercedes’ racing arm had a lot in store for racing fans before, during, and after the Miami Grand Prix, and the experiences were centered around its NFT offerings.
The Miami Grand Prix is this F1 Season’s round five, but Mercedes is committed to offering tokens for the first four Grand Prix to fans who register during the Miami Grand Prix weekend. We reported on Mercedes’ NFT offerings during the Miami Grand Prix a few weeks ago.
Richard Sanders, Mercedes’ commercial director, shared the following concerning the company’s NFT offerings,
“Finding new and innovative ways to engage with our global fanbase is a key priority for the team. Collecting memorabilia has always been a huge part of following your favorite sports team, and we’re excited to create these genuinely cool digital collectibles that will also unlock new ways for fans to be closer to the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team.”
Mercedes is a brand that always incorporates innovation in all its activities, and in all honesty, innovation is a must when we consider the industry Mercedes operates in. Over the rest of this piece, we’ll examine how innovation and partnerships helped deliver Mercedes NFTs.
Mercedes and FTX: A new experience
As we all know by now, the Web3 space is built on collaboration, and almost all the great projects are born out of collaborations and partnerships. When trying to deliver its NFTs, Mercedes had two choices, design tech in-house and get all the necessary licenses to operate an NFT platform or partner with an existing NFT platform.
Naturally, the company chose the most reasonable option and partnered with FTX to deliver its NFT project. Mercedes has released an exciting collection of NFTs in collaboration with FTX in time for the Miami Grand Prix.
Mad Dog Jones, a critically-acclaimed artist, was commissioned to create the designs for the NFT project, and some of the artworks created by Mad Dog Jones featured on the rear wings of both Lewis Hamilton and George Rusell during the just concluded Miami Grand Prix.
Ignite for the future
It’s safe to say that the Miami Grand Prix was an experience to remember, and now that the race is over, Mercedes and FTX plan to auction off the rear wings of the vehicles alongside the corresponding NFTs.
The auction will help raise money for Ignite, a charitable initiative backed by the Mercedes F1 team and Lewis Hamilton’s Mission 44. Ignite is committed to helping support diversity and inclusion in motorsports.
If you missed the Mercedes Miami Grand Prix NFT drop, you have no cause to panic because Mercedes and FTX plan to release their free-to-claim NFT “Ticket Stubs” throughout the racing season.
