Miami NFT Collection with TIME, Mastercard and Salesforce

The city of Miami has partnered with Time, Mastercard, and Salesforce to launch a collection of 5000 NFTs created by local artists. Mayor Francis X Suarez’s announcement continues Miami’s love affair with the emerging new technologies of Web3 and NFTs.

The Miami collaboration with Mastercard and Salesforce aims to generate income for local businesses and non-profits within the Miami city limits. NFT holders will gain access to exclusive reward offerings.

Local artists to create the NFT collection

The project will use 56 local Miami artists to make 5000 unique NFTs representing the 56 square miles that incorporate Miami and Miami Beach. Each artist will fashion NFTs representing each square mile of the city limits.

Lucky holders of the NFTs will gain entry to Mastercard’s Priceless Miami program. This exclusive program entitles the holder to unparalleled experiences in the city, including organized culinary experiences at some of the city’s premier restaurants. Other utilities include private tours of prestigious Miami cultural institutes such as art galleries.

In his announcement, the Mayor talks about his excitement about the partnership with TIME, Mastercard, and Salesforce, the city’s continued embrace of Web3 technology, and its growing reputation for being at the forefront of blockchain adoption.

He states, “we will continue to employ these new technologies to support our existing businesses while attracting new ones, raising capital, and providing experiences for our citizens and those visiting this great city. At the same time, we can also use this novel approach to support local artists and charities.”

Miami and Web3

Miami is becoming synonymous with NFTs and Web3 with ever more events occurring.

Last year, we had the NFTs at Art Basel Miami, and earlier this year we had a lot of non-fungible token rollouts related to the Miami Grand Prix. These include the Red Bull NFTs and Tezos sponsorship and the Formula 1 race sponsorship by crypto.com, with its corresponding NFT collection.

Looking forward, there is the upcoming Dcentralcon Miami which returns to the city, after last year’s success from the 28th -30 November at the James L Knight Center.

TIME

TIME is no stranger to the NFT sphere. They published the world’s first ever decentralized magazine issue in March this year. Furthermore, the company has released over 20,000 NFTs since September 2021. The TIMEpiece sales added $10 million in profits to the company’s bottom line, plus $600,000 for charities.

TIME President Keith Grossman, talking to Decrypt, hinted that TIME may be up to helping “other entities deploy NFT projects”, after the partnership with Miami.

He went on further regarding the art and artists commissioned to conceive the artwork for the NFT collection, “The artwork will reflect the tremendous diversity represented within the city of Miami,”

Mastercard

Mastercard is another financial payment company ready to embrace Web3 and NFTs. It recently announced it would allow its 2.9 billion cardholders to purchase NFTs.

In regards to the NFT collection, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer of Mastercard, Raja Rajamannar, said, “We’re thrilled to join forces with local Miami businesses and provide greater utility and benefit of NFTs by offering Priceless experiences to the citizens of Miami and those visiting this dynamic city.”

Salesforce

Salesforce, a leading global provider of CRM has been working on creating its own NFT platform (currently in closed Beta) that many say, could well bring NFTs to the masses.

Salesforce designed the platform “to help brands deliver connected experiences across the physical and digital worlds.”

The company believes NFT enthusiasts and city businesses will gain from the partnership.

“Businesses are looking to deliver connected experiences across emerging channels in a sustainable and trusted way. We’re excited to be a part of this initiative that will help strengthen Miami’s business community,” said Adam Caplan, SVP, Emerging Technology, Salesforce.

Afterthoughts

The City of Miami collection is another way for the NFT community to explore Miami while helping to raise capital for artists and local businesses.

A date for the launch is not concrete, but it is expected in December when the Ethereum blockchain moves to Proof of Stake.
