The Walt Disney Company, also known as Disney, is transitioning well to the world of digital collectibles. Thus far, every Disney NFT collection dropped has sold out within minutes.
With their NFT cards being dropped at a price of just $60, it’s easy to see why they’re selling like gold dust. These cards are valuable digital assets which, based on the worldwide resonance of Disney, are guaranteed to appreciate in value.
Recent rumors suggest some history-making news in the pipeline, involving a major Disney acquisition in the NFT space. They’ve enjoyed an illustrious history in entertainment and commanded unfathomable commercial success. Now they’re looking to dominate the digital and NFT categories.
While our imagination takes flight and we consider the incredible possibilities, let’s delve into Disney’s NFT journey so far.
Disney Golden Moments NFT collection on VeVe App

It’s hardly surprising that the Walt Disney legacy has entered the realm of digital collectibles. Owners of some of the most iconic, memorable characters in the history of animation, Disney recognizes the potential of the digital realm and blockchain technology.
As Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) exploded last year, Disney was quick to act and formed a partnership with VeVe to release NFTs on the mobile digital collectibles app.
Former Disney CEO Bob Iger has said that the potential for Disney in the NFT space was “extraordinary” and it’s clear that Disney is thinking the same.

The Disney Golden Moments NFT collection dropped in November 2021, featuring golden statues of iconic characters from some of the biggest movies on the Disney roster, including Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar.
Disney adopted a ‘Blind box’ format on drop day, meaning buyers didn’t know what they were getting until they opened the box. The collection quickly sold out, with most NFTs going for $60, and the subsequent value of the NFTs skyrocketed to $2,000 in some cases. Recently, Veve released a new Disney Star Wars collection.
Mickey and Friends, Pixar Pals

On January 29th, the ‘Mickey Mouse and Friends NFT collection was launched and sold out almost instantly. Disney artists Morgane Keesling and Naty Kosloff transformed the famous characters into hand-painted digital art. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck are all featured in the collection.
On Sunday, March 13th, the latest Disney NFT drop ‘Pixar Pals’ arrived, and – yep – the entire collection of 54,995 NFTs sold out immediately. That equates to a cool $3.3 million apparently scooped by Disney. The drop featured stars from Pixar Animation Studios, including Sheriff Woody, Mike Wazowski, Lightning McQueen, The House from Up, and Edna Mode.

Again, these NFTs were released in ‘blind box’ offerings, adding spice to the occasion although, at $60, people weren’t exactly paying through the nose. These NFTs boomed in value and at a minimum, prices were appreciating 400% on the VeVe app’s secondary market.
