Quotes:
The founder of Pinhole, said of the release: “Marco’s work has always been ahead of his time, and always fully focused on pushing digital to the forefront. His photos have been coveted by top art collectors for years and the NFTs in this collection are a great fusion of a truly iconic age and his inspirations of today. It’s truly remarkable what he’s achieved and to be able to finally offer these pieces to art lovers and collectors via our new digital art gallery in collaboration with Rarible is a dream come true.”
Marco Glaviano said: “I’m happy that we finally have a new platform to showcase digital photography, as I’ve been working on digital photography for nearly 40 years and my work has always been about pushing the boundaries of what digital photography can do”.
Cindy Crawford said: “Marco and I have been collaborating since the beginning of my career. We’ve shot countless editorials, advertising campaigns and my swimsuit calendars. I’ve always appreciated his unique ability to see and capture his subject—no matter what is in front of his lens. He’s always viewed the world multidimensionally and it’s that vision that sets him apart. It makes perfect sense to me that he would enter the world of NFT’s just as he embraced digital photography in the 80’s.”
Alexis Ren, a new friend of Glaviano’s, is particularly excited about this new venture and stated: “This photo is one of my favorites from my entire career, it’s a piece of art and Instagram banned it, therefore it was our first choice to turn into an NFT which has fewer boundaries and more potential of living forever. It was really special to meet Marco Glaviano who has crafted an aesthetic that I’ve looked up to for so long. Being able to connect with Marco through family was really special. Getting to shoot with him was even more special because I grew up really falling in love with the way the women were in his photos and how their energy was just powerful and commanding. It inspired me to be the woman I am today. I love this crossover where we are adding the legacy of this photographer into this new NFT phase. And I’m very honored to be a part of it and keep his memory alive because he has done so much for the fashion industry and for my life personally.”

Marco Comment: “The Cindy Kiss is probably one of my most well-known and recognizable photos. It’s very hard to choose between my pictures of Cindy as I love them all. She has been one of my dearest friends for years and I love and respect her. Cindy is not just a supermodel, she’s really a business woman and a very good person. It’s only natural to involve her in anything new I’m doing as she’s such a big part of my history.”
Marco Comment: “These images of Paulina are just fascinating. I always had one foot here and one creating in technology. It’s amazing what we can do now with digital art that wasn’t available when I first got started, but I still tried and that’s why I have the first digital image ever published in American vogue. I always wanted to create beyond the capacities of film and Polaroids etc.
These pictures of Paulina are timeless, you really can’t tell in what decade I shot them and the funny thing is all the elements are real. The big leaves, the parrot! Paulina is a professional, she can do anything. This image of Paulina is probably one of my most well-known pictures of her, given that it’s hanging in Cipriani’s in New York. It’s amazing what we can do now with digital art that wasn’t available when I first got started. I always wanted to create beyond the capacities of film and Polaroids, and I still have the original polaroid of this shot. This picture is timeless in that you really can’t tell what decade it was shot in.”
Marco Comment: “Alexis is sweet. She’s the first social media influencer I’ve ever shot and she’s beautiful. Our favorite piece of art we made together Instagram told her to take it down for “nudity” violation. I found this demand repulsive, so Alexis and I planned to create an NFT where our art won’t be stifled by social media’s insane standards.
When we first met I was surprised she knew so much of my work and was a fan, I told her “so am I!” She has a very distinct look and style and what she wants to shoot, she knows her audience so well but also wants to branch out and be another side of herself. Which I respect.
During the time we were shooting in St Barths I grew to like her a lot and enjoy her company. I’ve been shooting photos on Shell Beach with beautiful women since the 80’s. So it was fun to recreate a photo from 30 years ago with a new beautiful woman who also taught me about her world of social media.
Marco Comment: “When my late friend Peter Beard discovered Iman and brought her to New York they created a narrative where she was a wild woman from Africa, but the truth was that she spoke five languages, went to college and was extremely refined, and was the daughter of the Somali ambassador. She came to my studio with Azzadine Alaia and Andre Leon Talley, who was the fashion editor of Vogue at the time. We had a piece of fabric with a tribal/African print. Azzadine draped it around her and made a dress within five minutes and that’s how this photo was produced.”
Marco Comment: I took this picture of Trump in 2004 because Vanity Fair was making a story about him. I’ve shot lots of men over my career. And it’s impossible for any artist to see into the future and know what kind of person their subject will become. You just don’t know. Those are the winding streets of life. This is part of my journey and my life. Therefore, I chose to digitalize this photo because when I think of Donald I think of gold. Everything in the place was gold and that’s what left an impression on me. I was married in a beautiful church where I grew up in Palermo. There, the walls are all a mosaic made of gold and that’s what Donald is made up of in the photo. The church is real, the gold in the Trump Tower was not, only the toilet actually. There are two sides to every person.
“He was there. In the year of our Lord, 900 AD. within the gold stones of the Byzantine mosaic of my Palermo. The fierce look and strong chin was already an omen of a glorious future, El Presidente de Oro.” — Marco
