Meta Shoots for 52 Live NBA Games in VR

Social media giant Meta is expanding its partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Utilizing its Meta Quest headset, the company will deliver immersive, social experiences of live NBA basketball.

Meta is entering the world of live sport in virtual reality (VR). The company will deliver more than 50 games in XSTADIUM and Meta Horizon Worlds on its Meta Quest headset. Additionally, Meta are partnering with the league to launch NBA licensed apparel in the Meta Avatar Store in the coming weeks.

As part of Meta’s big announcement, fans can watch live NBA games in VR. Essentially, NBA and WNBA fans can expect high-quality video, and the ability to host and watch parties with friends in XSTADIUM. Thus, watching the NBA at home can be a social event, with a host of exciting VR features to enjoy. Also in the future, users will have the option to subscribe to NBA League Pass.

Special features in VR

One special feature will allow fans to enjoy five games with celebrity broadcasters in 180-degree immersive VR. Moreover, WNBA games, NBA G League games and NBA 2K League games will be available to watch. In Meta Horizon Worlds, you’ll also be able to access game highlights, recaps and archival content.
