ACFC Launches NFT Collection With Crypto.com

Angel City Football Club (ACFC), L.A.’s newest professional soccer team, today announced the launch of ‘ACFC Inaugural Fan Pass Collection’ – an NFT drop – at crypto.com.

The drop will commemorate ACFC’s first match and will take place from 8 am PST on April 29th to 9 pm PST on May 5th.

“We created this NFT collection to commemorate the kickoff of our first season and to use our platform to bring as many ACFC fans as possible into the exciting world of Web3, cryptocurrencies, and NFTs,” said Julie Uhrman, co-founder and president of Angel City Football Club.
She continued: “We believe that ownership is a core tenet of Web3 and why NFTs are so powerful. Upon claiming the NFTs, our fans will own a piece of the team’s history and come on the journey alongside us. This is only the beginning!”

ACFC, the 11th member of the National Women’s Soccer League, will make their debut in Spring 2022 at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.

How to get your ACFC NFTs

Crypto.com, ACFC’s founding partners, will award the first 2 NFTs from the collection to those who sign up to their NFT marketplace.

The two NFTs on offer comprise a ‘Kickoff NFT’ – a digital, stylised ACFC soccer ball with the ACFC crest floating within – and a ‘Sol Rosa Kickoff NFTs’ – the same design washed over with ACFC’s signature Sol Rosa colour.

The ‘Kickoff NFT’ will be unlimited in supply, but the ‘Sol Rosa Kickoff NFT’ will be rare, with only 22 in supply, to be given away to 22 lucky fans.

Once redeemed, the team will communicate directly with the NFT holders to share access to exclusive digital items and invitations to virtual and real-life events throughout the season.

“We are incredibly excited to help kick off and celebrate the start of ACFC’s inaugural season,” said Steven Kalifowitz, Chief Marketing Officer, Crypto.com.
“Providing fans more ways to support and engage with their favourite team is central to our relationship with ACFC, and we look forward to continuing to build on this initiative.”

The number 22 is a significant number for the new club, which was born in the year 2022, and also has a stadium capacity of 22,000.

In addition, ACFC has a ‘Player 22 Future Program’ that provides grants to retired NWSL players starting new careers in sports.

ACFC will be donating proceeds from the NFT drop to the Player 22 Fund.

ACFC was founded by Academy Award-winning actress and activist Natalie Portman, technology venture capitalist Kara Nortman, media and gaming entrepreneur Julie Uhrman, and Seven Seven Six founder and former Executive Chair of Reddit, Alexis Ohanian.

Former England Women’s National Team forward Eniola Aluko leads the team as Sporting Director, and Freya Coombe is the team’s Head Coach.
