The company behind Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell recently filed numerous trademark applications for NFTs and metaverse products relating to the fast-food franchises.
Yum! Brands
You are most likely familiar with one of the following brands, KFC, Pizza Hut, or Taco Bell. These three brands are all fast food powerhouses, but another thing they all have in common is the fact that they are all under the same umbrella.
That umbrella is Yum! Brands, a leading franchise organization behind some of the worlds most popular restaurant chains. The company has exported their brands globally and are present in most major cities across the globe.
What this proves is that Yum! Brands have gotten their expansion and marketing strategies down to a science, and as the consortium enters the NFT and metaverse space, this might come in handy.
Yum! Brands in the Metaverse ecosystem
Fast food is finally entering the metaverse and NFT ecosystem, and when brands like Burger King, Mcdonald’s, Panda Express, and more began making moves to enter the metaverse with virtual restaurants, it became apparent that it was only a matter of time before the likes of KFC through Yum! Brands followed suit.
Michael Kondoudis is one of the most reliable sources when it comes to news about NFT and metaverse-related SEC filings. On March 30, Michael Kondoudis shared that Yum! Brands filed applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on March 25, 2022.
The SEC filing by Yum! Brands may signify that the brands under this umbrella will soon begin offering virtual services and products. A press statement from Mr. Kondoudis reads, “Clearly, Yum! Brands sees the potential of the Metaverse and is preparing its trademarks and brands for the virtual economy that will dominate it. These trademark filings “follow the trend by other participants in the restaurant sector like McDonald’s, Burger King, Panera Bread, and Panda Express to begin preparations to participate in the Metaverse.”
As the fast-food sector enters the metaverse and NFT space in full force, many wonder how this will help revolutionize or redefine the fast-food space.
Competition in the Metaverse
It seems like a plethora of fast-food players decided to enter the NFT space simultaneously, and with many similar players vying for user attention and patronage; it’ll be interesting to see how the different fast food brands try to differentiate themselves from the pack.
At the end of the day, there’s no denying that brands such as Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and KFC are a huge part of our lives, and we can’t help but wish them good luck in their latest endeavors into the Metaverse.
