It seems like Gucci is about to make another move into the metaverse. That’s right, the Italian fashion powerhouse is teaming up with Yuga Labs to explore the intersection between fashion and entertainment in the metaverse. This is big, and it’s just the beginning.
Gucci is already dipping its toes in the NFT world with its branded outfits for Yuga Labs’ 10KTF project. And now, with this multi-year strategic partnership, Gucci is set to take an active role in Yuga Labs’ Otherside metaverse offering. This is not a drill, people.
For those of you who don’t know, Otherside is Yuga Labs’ gamified, meta-RPG universe. And Gucci is about to be a major player in this world. In fact, the first activation of this partnership will give us a glimpse of what Gucci’s participation in Otherside will look like, and it’s set to happen this week.
Robert Triefus, chief executive of Gucci Vault & Metaverse Ventures, said that this partnership will give Gucci an active role in Otherside and 10KTF’s continuing narrative. This is huge, folks. Gucci is no longer just dabbling in the metaverse. It’s becoming a pioneer in the Web3 and NFT industry.
But Gucci isn’t just doing this for fun. It’s doing it because it sees an opportunity to create digital products that allow people to express themselves in new and exciting ways. And let’s face it, with over 3 billion people using video games, virtual worlds are going to become more and more present in our lives.
Gucci Going All In Web3
It’s not only Gucci’s partnership with Yuga Labs that’s the exciting thing happening in the NFT world. Just a few weeks ago, Gucci announced its 10KTF NFT project, which includes a virtual floating “New Tokyo” world, fashion accessories for purchase by profile picture NFT owners, and a fictional character called Wagmi-San, a nod to the Web 3.0 phrase “wagmi”, short for “we are all going to make it”.
Gucci Vault, the brand’s experimental off-shoot revealed the Gucci Grail NFTs last week. Minted on the Ethereum blockchain, these NFTs offer a unique and personalized experience envisioned by Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michele, and crafted by none other than Wagmi-San.
While the ultimate reward of the Gucci Grail NFTs remains a mystery, fans are speculating that it could be a Gucci NFT wearable, which would be a first for the brand.
Gucci Ahead of the Game
This is all a huge step for Gucci, and it’s clear that the brand isn’t content to simply dip its toes in the NFT world. With its innovative and daring approach, Gucci is taking the lead and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the metaverse.
Gucci is ahead of the game, and it’s not slowing down. So get ready, because the fashion and entertainment worlds are about to collide in the most epic way possible. And Gucci is leading the charge.
