IBA Announces Boxing Metaverse

The International Boxing Association (IBA) is working on a vision that could change the way we interact with sports forever.

A new era of virtual sports is upon us. Indeed, the world’s first boxing metaverse is underway, and will cater for more than 540M boxing fans.

At the congress of the International Boxing Association in Abu Dhabi in December 2022, plans for the metaverse platform emerged. In the IBA’s boxing metaverse, fans will be able to engage with VR boxing, VR training, NFTs, fan tokens and own cryptocurrency.

Moreover, cryptocurrency will be the primary means of payment for all aspects of the platform. For example, you will be able to use cryptocurrency to pay for subscriptions to watch fights in real life and VR fight arenas. In essence, this boxing metaverse will be a fully immersive virtual arena for fight fans to savour.

Multi-billion dollar market

There are many exciting metaverse platforms in the works, and even ‘multiverse’ platforms. Big brands are banking on the future of our lives being dominated by such platforms. Furthermore, playing sports in the virtual realm, and viewing sports online, are two giant industries. Now, these two popular activities will feature in the IBA’s ground-breaking boxing metaverse.

International house of boxing

The Future of boxing?

Boxing is still a hugely popular sport worldwide, with iconic champions and an illustrious history. Moreover, the IBA’s boxing metaverse has a major opportunity to reach the worldwide boxing community. As for the technology, it’s clear that VR is integral to the IBA’s vision.
