FIFA Launches NFT Collection with Modex for 2023 Club World Cup

FIFA is entering a new chapter in digital collectibles with its first NFT collection in collaboration with tech firm Modex. The collection introduces a fresh line of dual digital collectibles for the FIFA Club World Cup 2023, kicking off in Saudi Arabia on December 12.

Modex Joins Hands with FIFA+ Collect

As part of the collaboration, Modex will assume strategic management of FIFA+ Collect, a digital hub for those passionate about football. FIFA+ Collect provides access to officially licensed digital collectibles where collectors can exhibit, trade, and utilize these items in special challenges to earn rewards.

For the first release on December 15, FIFA Collect+ will release 100 digital collectibles on the Algorand Network. These rare NFTs will give fans the opportunity to secure tickets to the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final – a match watched by over a billion people in 2022.

FIFA’s Chief Business Officer, Romy Gai, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Modex: “We are excited to embark on this transformative journey with Modex and take the FIFA+ Collect platform to new heights. Since launching, the platform has been immensely popular worldwide, and fans from all countries now have the opportunity to own a piece of footballing history.”

The Second Drop

Beyond the first drop, 900 more collectibles will be rolled out on OpenSea via the Polygon Network. The launch, planned for December 19, coincides with the FIFA Club World Cup reaching its final stages. These collectibles will include memorable moments from the tournament, digital versions of tournament memorabilia, and VIP experiences.

Francesco Abbate, CEO of Modex, commented on the role of digital collectibles in enhancing fan experiences, saying: “Digital collectibles increase the ways in which fans can interact with their favorite players, teams, and the game they love, and we’re honored to support FIFA on realizing this goal.”

Hosted in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the Club World Cup, starting on December 12, will see leading football teams worldwide taking part. Competing teams include Manchester City (England), Fluminense (Brazil), Auckland City (New Zealand), Urawa Reds (Japan), León (Mexico), Al Ahly (Egypt), and Al Ittihad from the host country.

FIFA’s partnership with Modex, introducing an NFT collection for the Club World Cup, exemplifies the innovative use of Web3 technology in sports. Moreover, fans gain unique opportunities to engage and earn rewards, including a once-in-a-lifetime chance to win tickets to the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.
