NFT Adoption Surges Among Influencers & Celebrities

Actors, rappers, athletes, celebrities, influencers, even billionaires – these days everyone seems to be jumping onto the non-fungible token (NFT) bandwagon. From ape-ing into high-priced NFTs like the BAYC (Bored Ape Yacht Club) collection and others, flexing their million-dollar NFT profile pics on the internet, to selling NFTs of their own, NFTs are no longer a bubble but have transitioned into one of the most profitable sectors of the crypto economy.

There are many reasons why influencers and celebrities have been getting involved with NFTs. Some of these reasons include the ability to make more money from these assets than traditional avenues, the chance to generate revenue without having to rely on advertisers for sponsorship, and the opportunity for exposure that comes with being an influencer.

Yet, irrespective of the reason, the inflow of celebrities and influencers into the NFT scene has helped the nascent sector gain mainstream recognition and driven adoption. To date, several renowned faces, including Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Grimes, Snoop Dogg, Ellen DeGeneres, Matt Damon, Steve Aoki, Shawn Mendes, Eminem, Jack Dorsey, Kate Moss, Cara Delvigne, Emily Ratajkowski, Kings of Leon, 3LAU, Azealia Banks, Mark Cuban, Tony Hawk and many more have already taken to social media to show their love for NFTs.

NFT PFPs, or NFT profile pictures, are the newest trend that has taken over celebrities, influencers, entrepreneurs, and billionaires. From Jimmy Fallon to Reese Witherspoon, John Stamos to MC Hammer, NHL star Louis Domingue to Tennis ace Serena Williams, popular personalities are leveraging NFT PFPs to represent themselves in the virtual world.

The list of celebs and influencers is getting longer with each passing day, primarily due to the abundance of platforms and collaborations. These days, it is rather easy for anyone to mint, list, manage, and sell NFTs, and that too without any technical knowledge. That said, here are a few more well-known influencers and celebrities to join the NFT craze.

Sports Personalities Flock To The Binance NFT Marketplace

Earlier this month, legendary heavyweight champion boxer Mike Tyson launched his exclusive Mystery Box collection on the Binance NFT Marketplace. This exclusive NFT collection features a series of artworks of Mike Tyson alongside a multitude of exclusive rewards for users.

Per the official announcement, the Mystery Boxes contain five unique NFT designs and each NFT has a different rarity level. With each NFT collected, users will stand a chance to win additional Mike Tyson merchandise. Additionally, after verifying the ownership of their NFTs on Metacurio’s platform, all Mystery Box NFT collection owners will receive three additional “special-edition” Mike Tyson NFTs for free.

German national football team’s member and midfielder for the La Liga club Real Madrid, Toni Kroos, has also launched his exclusive NFT collection on the Binance NFT Marketplace on March 31, 2022.

Built with the collaboration of NFTKings, Toni Kroos’ latest NFT collection features a total of 6,500 Mystery Boxes. Each of these boxes contains one unique art piece connected to the history of Kroos’ illustrious career. All of the NFTs in this collection are divided into four categories based on their rarity.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the NFTs will be donated to the Toni Kroos Foundation, which will then be directed towards assisting needy children and families and the UN Refugee Agency.

Rewinding a bit further to March, Binance NFT Marketplace also launched the Muhammad Ali Experience Mystery Box collection to celebrate the boxing legend Muhammad Ali and his core ideals of respect, confidence, dedication, conviction, spirituality, and giving.

This limited-edition collection features real-life paintings of Ali, signatures, gold sculptures inspired by Ali’s career and ideals, and the Muhammad Ali Experience logo. It also includes six videos NFTs, each with a different level of rarity and utility. For instance, the NFT with Bronze (N) rarity grants its owner a Membership Access Card for the soon-to-be-launched Muhammad Ali Experience Metaverse Museum. Likewise, the NFT with Gold (SR) rarity gives its owner access to digital artworks of Muhammad Ali.
