Hyundai Motor Company announces its first NFT collection will debut in May. The announcement came in the form of a short film released on the company’s official website. The film introduces the concept of Hyundai’s NFT universe, the “Metamobility Universe,” reflecting the company’s vision of the” Metamobility” concept, initially revealed at CES 2020.
With this announcement, Hyundai is well on its way into the history books. The company becomes the first automaker in the automobile industry to tap into the non-fungible token (NFT) market. The firm’s NFT discord and Twitter channels opened on April 15, and the official NFT website will go live in May 2022.
The online platforms will serve as communication channels between the company and community members, with real-time updates on the asset value of its NFTs. The company will launch 30 limited digital collectibles collaborating with the famous NFT brand, “Meta Kongz,” to commemorate the film’s release. The collection will drop on April 20.
Hyundai Motor’s Global Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Customer Experience Division, Thomas Schemera, said the following.
“The Hyundai NFT universe will extend the Hyundai brand experience, especially with MZ generation, in a completely new way, further reinforcing our commitment to innovation in both the real world and in the Metaverse. We are extremely excited to introduce “Metamobility” through our own NFTs and start this journey with “Meta Kongz.”
Hyundai Is Staying Ahead Of The Curve
This move by Hyundai is indicative of the company’s dedication to being at the forefront of technological advancements. The NFT project aims to provide users with the “Hyundai Brand experience in the metaverse by sharing NFTs depicting its mobility solutions.”
The success of this project is sure to influence other brands in the automobile industry to follow in Hyundai’s footsteps in the nearest future. There have been several other instances of automakers exploring the possibilities of the NFT market. In 2021, the Italian sports car brand Ferrari signed a multi-year partnership with Swiss tech company Velas Network AG to release NFTs for its fans.
Famous F1 Team Mclaren Racing launched a digital art collection on the Tezos blockchain, and its first NFT drop featured different parts of the MCL35M 2021 formula one race car. Meanwhile, Lamborghini revealed their entrance into the NFT space when it announced the launch of its space-themed artwork called “space key.”
A masterclass in Pioneering
Although several other popular car brands have already issued non-fungible tokens (NFT) in the past, those collectibles were available only to certain collectors.
Hyundai is the first automobile company to design community and value-based NFTs that enable owners to join the metaverse space that the company created.
