Atlanta Hawks is the latest NBA franchise to utilize NFTs as a tool for fan engagement, and the team has given fans more reason to come in on a special day.

Atlanta Hawks: Atlanta Loves Web3

As the NBA regular season draws to an end, teams are considering how to reward fans for another season of loyalty. Atlanta Hawks has come up with a fantastic avenue to reward fans during its final regular-season game of the 2021-22 season, and it’s bound to get a myriad of people excited.

The Atlanta Hawks have witnessed considerable success over the last few seasons led by the team’s talisman, Trae Young. On Friday, 25 March 2022, the Atlanta Hawks announced that they would host a fan appreciation night during the team’s final home game on 6 April 2022 against the Washington Wizards.

Melissa Proctor, the team’s Chief Marketing Officer, shared the following concerning its proposed fan appreciation night,

“Fan Appreciation Night is one of many ways that we can give back to our fans that have continued to show their support as we continue to create home-court advantage at State Farm Arena.”

If you’re an Atlanta Hawks fan, it might be in your best interest to attend the home game against Washington on 6 April 2022. One of the featured giveaways is an NFT collection exclusively available to fans in attendance during the game.

You can learn more about NFTs during an “NFT 101 Twitter Space Conversation” facilitated by a panel featuring a representative from the Atlanta Hawks on Monday, 4 April 2022, at 7:00 pm ET.

The Atlanta Hawks will unveil its NFT collection titled the “Forever 404” during fan appreciation night, featuring “spirit the Hawk” and a digital ticket to commemorate the event. They will share the digital commemorative tickets randomly with fans at the game, and it has a tiering system based on rarity.

The digital commemorative tickets include Starter, All-Star, MVP, and Legend. They created the NFT project in collaboration with GigLabs, an Atlanta-based lab that has worked with the NBA team in the past to deliver the “Harry the Hawk” NFT collection.

The giveaways do not stop there; every player on the team will gift a jersey to a fan of their choice, as a show of gratitude for the fans sticking with them through thick and thin.

Atlanta Teams cannot get enough of the Web3 space

This may surprise you, but the Atlanta Hawks are not the first Atlanta-based team to dabble in the NFT/metaverse space. The Atlanta Braves, Atlanta’s MLB team, made a splash in the metaverse community earlier this year. They became the first MLB team to join the metaverse when it launched a digital recreation of its home, Truist Park, as well as surrounding architecture.

As sports teams and leagues realize the importance and possibilities that NFTs and the Web3 space bring, we’ll witness more teams, leagues, and sports make their entry into the space.
