Sweet NFT platform Tezos integration opens with McLaren racing NFTs

  • McLaren Racing will release their NFT fan experience on Sweet, powered by Tezos, beginning  Sunday, October 24, 2021 at the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

McLaren racing is the latest big-name sports brand to announce the launch of its own, official, NFT collectibles platform, which it built on the Tezos blockchain network. The ‘McLaren Racing Collective,’ allows fans and collectors to buy McLaren racing NFTs and digital collectibles.

The first NFT drop will be released in 5 stages. The goal is to collect the components to the McLaren of the MCL35M 2021 Formula 1 race car and built a 3D NFT model.

There will be an initial component giveaway to the first 5000 fans to sign up to the platform, at http://mclarenracingcollective.com/. You must sign up before 24th October

With each drop, you get more components with which you build your McLaren formula 1 racing car. In order to complete your car you will need to collect all 22 components.

To increase scarcity, there will only be enough components minted to make 35 complete models.

Furthermore, as an added incentive, the first collector in the World to build to first ever complete the McLaren MCL35M will win a VIP trip to a 2022 Formula 1 grand prix.

Sunday’s drop will coincide with the Texas Grand Prix on the 24th of October, in Austin, The first 5 components in the drop will be the Left-wing mirror, Right-wing mirror, FR wheel, and FL wheel.

Where does the McLaren Racing NFT occur?

The drop will take place on the Sweet.io NFT platform on Sunday 24th October. This will be their first Tezos NFT drop and is being used to publicize the recent integration of Tezos onto its platform.

Sweet has integrated Tezos due to a couple of factors. The first is the scalability of Tezos. Its reputation as an energy-efficient blockchain eco-system and its reputation among crypto enthusiasts.

There will be many more McLaren NFTs minted for fans over the coming years. McLaren have seen the potential in the collectible market and has made NFTs part of its long-term marketing strategy.

Lindsey Eckhouse, Director, Licensing, ecommerce and esports, McLaren Racing, said:

“We are excited to launch McLaren Racing Collective, which allows us to engage our fans in an innovative new space. Through NFTs built on the energy-efficient Tezos blockchain, we are creating new ways to evolve our fan experience, and a bespoke McLaren Racing digital collectible marketplace provides people with a brand new way to connect with our team.

“The first NFT drop heroes our papaya-liveried MCL35M F1 car, and gives our fans a fantastic opportunity to own their own piece of McLaren Racing, seeing each component from all angles, while also allowing them to win incredible prizes.
