From One Chain to Many: Polkamon is Becoming Polychain Monsters

Over the last two and a half months since our public launch, we’ve connected, partnered and collaborated with a wide range of communities. When talking to the smart minds behind these projects, we often found our name to be a source of slight confusion. Polkamon, being so closely associated with Polkadot, was not in fact, a Polkadot-specific project, nor did we have a launched integration. At the same time, we were announcing cross-chain integrations with the likes of Elrond and Binance Smart Chain.

This led us to conclude that our brand name didn’t reflect the reality of what we are building — a multi-chain digital collectibles and gaming ecosystem.

It is our belief as a team that the future of crypto blockchains will not be winner-takes-all and that multiple layer one solutions will co-exist based on their various strengths and weaknesses. This was demonstrated when we became the first NFT product to support multiple networks. It is imperative that we position ourselves and our brand as a gaming and collectibles ecosystem accordingly. Therefore, we have decided that our name should reflect this ethos.

Polkamon will be rebranded as Polychain Monsters

Poly, a prefix meaning “many”, is the perfect addition to our brand as we continue to forge ahead in building a multi- and cross-chain ecosystem. Over the coming days, we will update our social media accounts, marketplace information and inform crypto websites of our new branding. We expect this process to take up to a week for most major platforms to reflect these changes. After this, we will be sharing a public tracker with the community to help identify and track websites that are yet to update to Polychain Monsters.

We will also be temporary including Polkamon in the names of some of our communities to avoid confusion.

What this means for PMON token holders & Polkamon collectors

When thinking about rebranding, we made a conscious effort to pick a name that we could seamlessly transition to without the need for onerous token swaps. PMON token holders do not need to take any action. No token swap is required. The native token for Polychain Monsters will remain as the PMON token. Polkamon metadata will be updated to Polychain Monsters.

As we move to rebrand, several of our communities will be affected as we transition to new links and domains. Below is a list of the affected websites and communities, as well as an updated glossary of terms.

About Polychain Monsters

Polychain Monsters are exquisitely animated digital collectibles created using blockchain technology. Each Polymon is backed by a truly unique NFT that is indistinguishable from any other NFT and can be unpacked with $PMON tokens, the native ERC-20 and BEP-20 token in the Polyverse. Each collectible is inimitable, authentic and differs in rarity. The Polychain Monsters NFT collection can easily be integrated into modern games, art and other blockchain connected products.
