$MEME Artist Drop 19: Nibble Bits

This post was originally published on Don't Buy Memes

Nibble Bits is no stranger to the $MEME community as they were recently selected as a winning finalist for 0xb1’s art competition.. but they didn’t stop there. We’re excited to announce they are back with a full Artist Series drop on $MEME!

Nibble Bits will be the first drop on MEME v2 with 3 pineapple-themed exclusive NFTs available for farming and a boss 1/1 auction that will go to the highest bidder.

Nibble Bits is a creative duo from London, England with over a decade of visual effects experience on shows like Jungle Book, for which they won an Oscar for. They’ve also been honored to work alongside many amazing artists and projects like Ed Sheeran & Chance The Rapper’s music video, The Last of Us 2 trailer, Xbox cinematic, Ridley Scott’s Hennessy film, Apple, Samsung, Heineken. You name it. In reality though, ‘Nibble bits’ is just the lovechild of two artists making their own cool shit, outside the boundaries imposed by the commercial world.

Describing their creative process, Nibble Bits had this to say:

It’s a pretty weird synergy. You basically have two artists sharing one canvas. One of us is more artistically oriented, the other one more technical, but we often cross worlds. It’s a good symbiosis. We outline a basic idea that we agree upon then we just bash visuals at each other, anything that inspires us in regards to the piece. Then we get on with it.

It just sort of…happens.

At the end, we don’t even remember who’s responsible for what. I think that’s what makes ‘us’ as Nibble Bits quite different; two contrasting brains conjoined by limited verbal communication. And yet, out poops something interesting and equally ridiculous in nature.

The Drop

Nibble Bits put their creative power to work, creating 4 NFTs up for grabs. 3 farmable NFTs will go into a pool where you can stake $MEME. Deposit any amount (up to 5 $MEME) and you’ll earn points where you can mint a brand-new, exclusive MEME x Nibble Bits NFT. In addition, a 1/1 NFT will be available for auction and will be able to be claimed by the highest bidder to add it to their collection.

Zak Walters and Nibble Bits went over how their artist journey got them on the path to creating NFTs.

Zak: So tell us how you both got started creating NFTs, what lead you here?

Nibble Bits: We’ve been following the ecosystem for some time now, and have seen the rapid pace at which the NFT space is growing, as well as the massive interest surrounding it from collectors. As content creators ourselves, we were super excited by the idea of crafting “unchained” art. Where you can freely express yourself and share it with the world, directly on the chain.
Art truly shines when there are no constraints to it. That’s what really got us excited about creating something ourselves.

Zak: How did you hear about $MEME, anyways?

Nibble Bits: Never heard of it. Sounds like a scam. Don’t buy $MEME.
(not investment advice)

Zak: What do you find interesting about what the $MEME project is doing?

Nibble Bits: In all seriousness, we love what $MEME is doing. Combining amazing tech and game-like mechanics with art at the core of it. Its characteristics make it beautiful, and a landmark that will stand forever in NFT history. It’s truly an honor to be part of it.

Zak: Where do you think will NFT art be in 3 years?

Nibble Bits: Three years from now will still be early days, yet more mature and much bigger than what it is now. We believe we’ve barely scratched the surface when it comes to NFTs (especially when it comes to combining the ability of smart contracts to create interactability and fun puzzle-like mechanics, maybe the next Cicada 3301 will involve NFTs?). We’re also starting to see more composability between different NFT platforms which can only lead to the growth and creativity of the space. You never know how someone will combine these legos together and generate something that you’ve never thought could be possible. We have a few ideas of our own — but nothing we can share right now 😉
